Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year 2017

Congratulations to Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom Teacher of the Year 2017 Jessica Pittman. Jessica excited her first graders from Bowling Green Elementary in Caroline County about agriculture using examples from the garden to the barnyard. Way to go to our very own Mrs. Pittman!

Bowling Green Elementary Beta

Bowling Green Elementary Beta students have proven that they have what it takes at the 2016-2017 State Beta Convention in Williamsburg. Students participated in various competitions, ranging from visual arts and academic to team and club events. BGE students brought home a total of 8 awards!

In visual arts, Sabian placed second with a charcoal sketch of an owl and placed second in handmade jewelry with a beautiful forged bracelet and aluminum cross necklace set. Kaila placed second in recyclable art with the creative use of egg cartons and twisted paper to create a three-dimensional tree wall art. Erinn placed third in sketch with a radial abstract line drawing. Finally, Dakota won a third-place award for this sculpture of an alien as he interpreted the convention theme of “Above and Beyond”.

Other awards went to Erinn with a third-place in speech, as she entered a moving speech about what the theme “Above and Beyond” meant to her. Second place went to the Bowling Green Elementary team for Tower of Power, as they constructed a tower with straws and masking tape that was required to hold a tennis ball. This team consisted of Ethan, Audrey, Gordon, Kaila, and Ahryah. The final award was a club award in which all participants competed. A first-place plaque honored the club’s Spotlight board, depicting the service and achievements of BGE Betas over the past year. All of the students previously mentioned received this award with the addition of Marcus, Alora, Audrey, and Makenzie.

Bowling Green Betas are truly moving “Above and Beyond” as they work toward high academic and character ideals. With a motto of “Let us lead by serving others,” these students are demonstrating to our community and state that Bowling Green Elementary is dedicated to high achievement and growth.
