The Caroline County School Board voted at their meeting on January 11th to maintain February 17th as a professional development day for teachers. February 17th will not be used as makeup day for students. Students will not be in school for that day.
Caroline County Public Schools is working collaboratively with Virginia Commonwealth University to research and determine the potential impact of changing school start times upon students’ academic, social-emotional, and physical well-being. CCPS is interested in your opinion regarding school start times and is working with VCU researchers to conduct a survey focused on gaining input related to the pros and cons you and your family may experience should a change in school start times be considered in the future. Please know that at present, there has not been a decision to move forward with any changes to school start times.
The research team will share survey results with CCPS administration and School Board Members. If you choose to participate, all answers will remain anonymous. The survey should take no more than 15-minutes. By completing the survey, you acknowledge your consent to participate. The survey will be available from January 9 through January 20, 2017.
If you have any question regarding the research or survey, please contact the team’s research supervisor, Dr. Katherine Mansfield, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Should you have any questions regarding your rights as a research participant, please contact the Institutional Review Board office at Virginia Commonwealth University and refer to study #HM20009006.
Thank you in advance for taking a moment to provide the VCU research team with your feedback regarding school start times.
