Parent Online Session: Take Home Device Pilot

There are currently 15 digital champion teachers at Caroline Middle School and Caroline High School are participating in a 1:1 pilot program. In August, each digital champion received a classroom Chromebook cart to use with their students while at school. The learning management system, Schoology, was introduced to the pilot teachers and is being used as the platform to support blending learning experiences.

To further extend our pilot year, two classrooms, one at the middle school and one at the high school will become 1:1 “take home device” users. Students will be able to use their Chromebooks to complete homework, projects, or conduct research in any of their classes. Students who do not have internet access at home will be able to download assignments before they leave class. When students return to school and log into their Chromebooks, their homework will automatically be uploaded. Additionally, students participating in the “take home” pilot will serve as our student digital advisory team which will help inform and educate the digital champion planning team and resolve any hurdles which may hinder a successful 1:1 implementation during the 2018-2019 school year. Most importantly, these students will have additional opportunities to engage in personalized learning experiences at school and home.

Mrs. Didlake’s second period (CHS) and Mrs. Vanderherchen’s fifth period (CMS) classes have been identified as a “take home device” pilot classrooms.
