Friends of Rachel (F.O.R.) Club and Champion Zone Kids (C.Z.K.)

CMS students met after Rachel’s Challenge to start planning ways to spread kindness and compassion at the middle school and our community. During the planning meeting, students who expressed interest in being a part of the F.O.R. club decided to meet Monday mornings from 7:00-7:30 a.m. three times a month and the last Monday of the month after school from 3:00-5:00 for projects, lessons, and games! The next F.O.R. meeting is Monday, 9/17/18 @ 7:00 a.m.

Initial student led projects this year will include:

  1. Chain link challenge recognizing acts of kindness. Students will cut strips of construction paper to provide to classrooms and to decorate envelopes to hold the links for CMS and to share with elementary schools
  2. Day of kindness with a pep-rally, handprints, and activities in October

In addition to our F.O.R. club, all students also have the opportunity to become a Champion Zone Kid (C.Z.K.) at CMS.

Qualities of Champion Zone Kids:

  • Respects Themselves and Others
  • Chooses Positive Influences
  • Values Differences in Others
  • Speaks with Kindness and is Courteous
  • Helps Those Being Bullied
  • Includes Those Who are Left Out

C.Z.K. will have a table setup during lunch on Friday, 9/21/18 with more information and a sign up sheet.

Chromebook Distribution

Dear secondary parents! We are excited to begin Chromebook distribution at CHS this Thursday, 9/6 and Friday, 9/7 during 1st block classes. Distribution at CMS will take place next Tuesday and Wednesday (9/11 and 9/12) during English classes.

Students who have returned both the 1) Acceptable Use Policy form and the 2. ) Digital Citizenship document located in the Student Code of Conduct will be issued a Chromebook and adapter (cord) on their assigned distribution day.

Students who have not completed and turned in forms prior to distribution day will be required to visit the CHS or CMS IT Care Center to submit the documents and receive their Chromebook and adapter. To complete the forms, please remove pages 23, 29, and 30 from the Student Code of Conduct which was sent home during the first week of school or go to www.ccps.us to print the forms (Student tab to Code of Conduct – print pages 23, 29, and 30).

We look forward to using our new learning management system, Schoology, to conduct the five days of introductory lessons which cover digital safety, Chromebook Apps, and Google Suite. Thank you for completing these forms, so we are able to achieve 100% student distribution!
