Due to below freezing temperatures and the potential for icy road conditions, Caroline County Public Schools will be operating on a 2 hour delay for Wednesday, January 30th. 12 month employees – Code 2. The delayed opening will allow the CCPS transportation team to monitor road conditions in the morning. Updates will be provided as needed.
It is anticipated that inclement weather will affect our area during the early evening hours, therefore CCPS is cancelling all after school and evening activities for Tuesday, January 29th. We will continue to monitor the weather and road conditions throughout the evening and into tomorrow morning. Updates will be provided as necessary.
Mrs. Terrie H. Haley has been selected by the Virginia Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (VASCD) as a 2019 Impact Educator recipient. Mrs. Haley has been principal of Madison Elementary School in Caroline County since 2015. Prior to this tenure, Mrs. Haley served as Assistant Principal at Lewis and Clark Elementary and Caroline Middle School.
Mrs. Haley is an instructional leader who guides with a strong scholastic background and commitment to excellence. Principal Haley’s daily efforts tie directly to student achievement and are bolstered by the creation of high expectations and appropriate supports for both students and staff. Mrs. Haley has created a culture that embodies mutual respect and dedication among the Mustang Family. . From teachers greeting each child daily at the door to celebrating students’ small and large accomplishments, the collective MES team proudly models respect for all Mustangs in their daily interactions.
Mrs. Haley has established the A,B,C’s for the mighty Mustangs. Achievement, Behavior and Culture are at the forefront of her leadership and are demonstrated in the numerous initiatives that the MES team has embraced. “You Miss School, You Miss Out” was created to foster awareness of the importance of student attendance and the impact on academic success. Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports (PBIS) have been implemented and embraced at MES to foster positive student behavior and recognition. As a lead learner, Mrs. Haley consistently demonstrates that Madison’s culture is one of collective responsibility where staff are “hip to hip” with instruction throughout the building to ensure all students are successful in school and in life.

Stephanie Brady, math teacher at Caroline High School, is a National Board Certified Teacher for Caroline County Public Schools. National Board Certification is a respected professional certification available to K-12 educators that goes beyond state licensure. Just under 3 percent of the nation’s teachers have achieved National Board Certification.
Prior to coming to Caroline County Public Schools, Ms. Brady was a math teacher in Hanover County for 15 years. She also taught in Richmond City for 4 years. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in math from Chowan College and her Masters degree in math from Radford University.
Caroline County Public Schools will be opening on time on Wednesday, January 16. While road conditions have improved greatly, we encourage all drivers to use caution as any remaining road moisture may refreeze this evening.
Due to the impact of numerous inclement weather closings on teaching and learning, February 15th will now be a full instructional day. Friday, January 18th will stay an early dismissal day and Monday, January 21st will remain a scheduled holiday.
As a reminder, the School Board meeting scheduled for Monday, January 14th has been rescheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2019.
