Caroline County Public Schools Announces Erick Childs as Supervisor of Transportation

Caroline County Public Schools is excited to announce Erick Childs as the Supervisor of Transportation. Mr. Childs will be replacing Mr. Satterwhite March 1, 2020. Mr. Childs was born and raised in Caroline County and is a graduate of Caroline High School. Mr. Childs graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Management from DeVry University. Erick originally started working at CCPS for the technology summer program when he was just 15 years old. Erick returned as a substitute bus driver in 2015. With a growing passion for pupil transportation, he fell in love with the transportation staff and became the Pupil Transportation Specialist in 2016. While serving in this capacity, Mr. Childs was fortunate to assist in the successful implementations of the automated bus routing system, automated vehicle location (GPS), and Fleet Management systems.

Mr. Childs looks forward to working with the CCPS family and serving the Caroline County community in this new role. CCPS welcomes Erick Childs as the new Supervisor of Transportation.

All students must have an Athletic Physical on file to tryout. Students with 2 F’s on their report cards from the 2nd 9 weeks are ineligible to try out. Eligibility will be reevaluated at end of 3rd 9 weeks. Activity bus forms can also be found on the CMS Athletic Blog

Conditioning – Starting Feb 24th conditioning will run after school Monday – Thursday from 3- 5:15pm.

Approved 2020-2021 Instructional Calendar

CCPS Board adopts calendar for 2020-21 school year

The Caroline County School Board voted Monday, February 10, 2020, to adopt a calendar for the 2020-21 school year that includes:

  • Two-week winter break (3 weekends)
  • Full week spring break (plus Friday before)
  • 3 Day Thanksgiving break
  • A shortened School Day (15min. reduction to the end of the school day)

After receiving input from multiple stakeholder groups and an online survey, the school division’s calendar committee made revisions to the initially proposed calendar and requested approval from the school board. The adopted calendar seeks to accomplish a variety of ends, including a pre-Labor-Day start, balanced job-embedded professional learning opportunities and clerical time for teachers, and different days for elementary and secondary parent-teacher conferences. The CCPS school board and
calendar committee are pleased to have an academic calendar that supports high-quality teaching and learning with a shortened school day.

CCPS Preschool Recruitment Begins February 18, 2020

Caroline County Public Schools offers a rigorous preschool program which provides a range of school readiness skills to eligible children with the greatest need. If your child will be 4 years old by September 30, 2020, and you reside in Caroline County, we encourage you to apply!

Eligibility is based on multiple criteria. All parents or guardians must complete the Pre-application form to begin the process.

National CTE Celebration

The Technology Student Association is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a  Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO). Each February, the CTSO promotes a public awareness campaign to celebrate the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country.

CCPS will celebrate our CTE programs by hosting a division-wide 3E Ready Day. Show your spirit by wearing gear that focuses on our 3E’s…EMPLOYED, ENLISTED, or ENROLLED.
