Required state testing for students in grades 3-12 begins Tuesday, 4/27/21 and continues through 5/21/21. Read the information below or click on the link to access the attached infographic with important testing reminders.
Steady and Slow Pace yourself on test day and use your test taking strategies. Do not stay on one question for too long. Use the available tools on the test. Show your work on the provided scratch paper. Do your best!
Charge your device. Do not forget to charge your device the night before. Bring your charger to school on the day of testing.
Prepare for testing before testing day. In person and virtual students who are taking the SOL: Practice items are available on the web-based Test Nav site. Virtual students who are taking the Remote Progress Test: Visit the Virginia Remote Student Progress site to complete a browser checkup, access practice items, and view troubleshooting information before test day.
2021 CCPS Teacher of the Year – Doug Allison
Congratulations to Doug Allison, Caroline County Public Schools Teacher of the Year! Mr. Allison is a health and physical education teacher and the head football coach at Caroline High School. Doug has been with Caroline County Public Schools since March 2018. Mr. Allison received his Bachelor of Science degree in History from Randolph Macon College and his Master’s of Education degree from George Mason University.
Joshua Just, CHS Principal, states, “Coach Allison has re-invented teaching in the past year to meet the needs of both in person and virtual learners. Doug’s enthusiasm is contagious and observable during his social emotional check in policy, which has allowed him to connect with all learners. Coach truly cares about instruction and the overall well being of all students under his direction.” As head football coach, Coach Allison has orchestrated food drives, car washes, and programs for elementary schools to demand higher player accountability, community engagement, and G.R.I.T.!
Mr. Allison will represent Caroline County Public Schools in the Region III Teacher of the Year process. We are thankful to Doug for his dedication to the children of Caroline and are proud to call Coach Allison, Teacher of the Year for the 2021-2022 school year.
2021 CCPS Novice Teacher of the Year – Kyle Turton
Congratulations to Kyle Turton (second from the left), Caroline County Public Schools Novice Teacher of the Year! Mr. Turton is a history teacher at Caroline Middle School. Kyle has been with Caroline County Public Schools since July 2019. Mr. Turton received his Bachelor of Science degree in Inclusive Adolescent Education/History from St. John Fisher College in New York.
Corinne Griggs, CMS Principal, states, “Mr. Turton is thoughtful when interacting with students, taking into consideration their individual needs and abilities to support learning and safety. Kyle has built strong relationships with his students resulting in higher engagement in the classroom.” Mr. Turton’s ability to connect extends well beyond the classroom walls. Kyle serves as a Destination Imagination coach, as well as a host of various clubs for students to engage in during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Caroline County Public Schools is proud to call Kyle Turton its Novice Teacher of the Year for the 2021-22 school year.
2021 CCPS Support Staff employee of the year
Congratulations to Tracey Robinson, Caroline County Public Schools Support Staff of the Year! Mrs. Robinson has been a paraprofessional at Madison Elementary School since November 2011.
Teresa Hicks, MES Principal, states “Mrs. Robinson comes to work everyday with a smile, positive attitude, and willingness to do what she can to support her team and students.” For the past 10 years, Tracey has supported the MES Kindergarten team and students. Mrs. Robinson was nominated by a staff member at Madison and in her nomination submission, the staff member wrote, “As you enter a Kindergarten classroom that Mrs. Robinson is supporting, you may not know which one of us is the teacher.” Mrs. Robinson is extremely involved in the day to day instruction that takes place.
