CAROLINE MIDDE SCHOOL FCCLA CHAPTER MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN CELEBRATING FEBRUARY AS SCHOOL BOARD APPRECIATION MONTH
Caroline Middle School members of the Virginia Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) celebrated National School Board Month by hosting a luncheon for Caroline County’s School Board. Along with their adviser, Ms. Denise Ewing-Williams, members expressed this year’s theme “Exceeding Expectations” and the mission of the program. They discussed with the board their plans and activities to address teen and societal concerns and show how Family and Consumer Sciences education can help them achieve the ultimate leadership experience. Superintendent Dr. Gregory Killough and Asst. Superintendent Dr. Rebbeca Broaddus were also in attendance.
The Soaring Eagles (FCCLA) this school year have attended and competed at the State Fair. Members won ribbons in the T-shirt and poster competitions. The chapter is currently doing several fundraising activities to raise money to attend the FCCLA State Leadership Conference in Virginia Beach and donate to Relay for Life here in Caroline County.
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is unique among youth organizations because its programs are planned and run by student members. It is the only Career and Technical Student Organization with the family as its central focus. Participation in national programs and chapter activities helps members become strong leaders in their families, careers, and communities. Our principal, Angela Wright, has been supported of the FCCLA student leaders of CMS and its success.
