Four CMS students went to the Junior BETA Leadership Summit at the Great Wolf Lodge in Williamsburg VA. They chose to compete for mastery in the “Lead Outside the Box” challenge. For this challenge the students are given a real world problem that they are challenged to solve. They received the challenge on Thursday November 2nd and had to present their findings less than 24 hours later. The girls collaborated, communicated ideas, researched the topic and created an excellent presentation. They had two minutes to show that they understood and found a solution to a problem. Before the challenge they didn’t have to research Federal guidelines, know about philanthropic organizations nor were they aware that sometimes a company is part of a community. The adults sat back and watched as they rose to the challenge and really made us proud. They were so focused on the end goal that they didn’t even get to experience the water park or other amenities at the event. They received an invitation to compete at the National Junior BETA conference in Savannah Georgia in 2018. BETA Proud!
