Congratulations to the CMS Beginning Band & Chorus!

Congratulations to the Caroline Middle School Chorus and Beginning Band! In competition on Saturday, May 6th, 27 students from the chorus and 51 students from the band competed against other schools in their division (Mixed Chorus AA and Concert Band AA).

With a score of 81 points and earning an Excellent rating, the Caroline Middle School Chorus narrowly edged out their competition to take first place. Not only did these students sing well, but they also showed excellent musicianship, and supported all students who competed yesterday.

With a score of 82.5 points and earning an Excellent rating, the CMS Beginning Band placed 2nd place competing against second year players and missing 1st place by .5.

Congratulations again to the Caroline Middle School Beginning Band & Chorus on this outstanding accomplishment. The CMS chorus is directed by Mrs. Mary Yanos and the CMS band us under the direction of Ms. Karen Mott.

CMS Beginning Band and Chorus competes at the Music in the Parks festival!


On Saturday, May 7th, the CMS Beginning Band and Mixed Chorus, competed in the Music in the Parks festival at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. The groups performed well, with both earning a rating of GOOD and 4th place in their division. Our students were respectful and well-behaved and showed appreciation and respect for all performing groups. We are so proud of our performances and especially proud of our young ladies and gentlemen and their respectful demeanor. Attached is a photo from our awards ceremony. What a great looking group of kids! Congratulations Ms. Karen Mott, Band Director and Mrs. Mary Yanos, Chorus director!

Congratulations to the CMS Music Department!

The past two weekends, the CMS music department competed at both Busch Gardens and Dollywood music festivals. The results for all four groups were outstanding!

In the Busch Gardens music festival, the Chorus and Beginning Band both scored an EXCELLENT rating (the 2nd highest possible) and placed 3rd and 4th place in their division, respectively. The Beginning Band was the only beginning group in the competition.

In the Dollywood music festival, the Intermediate/Advanced Band and Strings both scored an EXCELLENT rating (the 2nd highest possible) and both placed 1st place in their division. The band missed a Superior rating by 2.7 points.

We are excited to see our students continue soaring high through music and academics! Congratulations to both Mrs. Yanos and Ms. Mott for your hard work with the students at CMS!


CMS Intermediate/Advanced Bands and Chorus Rocked Hershey Park!

This past weekend, the CMS Intermediate/Advanced Bands and Chorus competed for the first time ever in the Music in the Parks competition at Hershey park, PA.  The results were outstanding……..the CMS band got Superior ratings (the highest possible) and 1st place in the Concert Band category. The CMS chorus received Excellent ratings (the 2nd highest) and 2nd place in the Mixed Chorus category. The final award, the Esprit de Corps award, which is awarded based on good sportsmanship, behavior, and being respectful towards staff and other schools, was awarded to Caroline Middle School band and chorus due to their awesome behavior. They also clapped and cheered for other bands and choruses at the awards ceremony.  We want to say a big thank you to all the parents that chaperoned the trip and to Ms. Angela Wright for approving the event for the CMS music department. Also congratulations to Mrs. Mary Yanos, chorus director and Ms. Karen Mott, band director on your awards!

Upcoming Winter Concerts at CMS!

This December is alive with the sound of music! There are three upcoming winter concerts featuring the CMS music department. All concerts start at 6:30 p.m. in the CMS auditorium and are free to the public. They are as follows:

Tuesday, December 4th – Beginning Band concert, 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, December 6th – Strings and Chorus Concert, 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, December 11th – Intermediate & Advanced Band Concert 6:30 p.m.
