Family Book Fair and Curriculum Night

On March 8th, Lewis and Clark families came out to support Family Curriculum and Book Fair Night.  Curriculum Night is an opportunity for families to learn about the Standards of Learning (SOLs) and participate in a variety of activities that students will engage in while learning and/or reviewing reading and math SOLs.  Families also had the opportunity to support the LCES Library by shopping at the Scholastic Book Fair.  Many thanks to the PTA and parents who volunteered to help during the Scholastic Book Fair.

Read Across America Day!

On March 2, 2017, LCES celebrated the joy of reading by participating in the National Education Association’s (NEA) Read Across America Day!  Read Across America is a nationwide initiative to model to children the importance of reading and mastering the basics skills necessary.  In order to motivate children to read more,  LCES wanted to join in on the fun; therefore, we asked students and faculty to dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character, guest readers volunteered to read Dr. Seuss books and kicked off LCES Reading Month with a pep rally.  Let’s continue to celebrate the joy of reading and remember….” you’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child”.
