Red Ribbon Spirit Week

Next week we celebrate Red Ribbon Week at MES.  Red Ribbon Week is when we commit to saying NO to drugs and alcohol.  Each day we are going to show this commitment with a different theme.

Monday, October 22nd – Crazy Hair Day because we are WILD about being drug free.

Tuesday, October 23rd – Hat Day because we put a cap on drugs.

Wednesday, October 24th – Vacation Shirt Day because we travel drug free.

Thursday, October 25th – Backwards Shirt Day because we turn our back on drugs.

Friday, October 26th – Wear Red Day because Mustangs are against drugs!

Fall Book Fair

Book Fair!  Book Fair!  The  Fall Book Fair Is Here!

The Book Fair will be opened Oct. 22-26  from 8:30-4:00 each day.  We will also be open on Thursday during Parent-Teacher Conferences. There will be a wonderful selection of books and materials for all ages. Come on out and support our school!

Parent Teacher conference forms went home with students yesterday.  Please sign up to meet with your child’s teacher to gain a greater understanding of their progress. Report cards will go home next Friday, October 19th.

Fire Safety

The Ladysmith Fire Department and Caroline County Rescue Squad came to Madison Elementary School today to share the importance of fire safety with the students.  The firefighters taught the students how to prepare in case there is a fire.  The students also got to see how firefighters wear and use their gear.

Writing in Kindergarten

Kindergarten students work with their classmates to brainstorm story ideas.  The students are encouraged to ask each other questions to help with adding detail to their pictures and writing.
