Fire Safety

MES students were visited this week by the Ladysmith Fire Department.  The firefighters talked to the students about fire safety and what it is like to be a firefighter.  The students were able to watch a firefighter suit up and then look at a fire engine and ambulance.

Learning is Delicious in 3rd Grade

At the end of their soil unit, Ms. Stewart’s third grade class got the chance to enjoy some edible soil! This soil showed all three layers. The bottom was chocolate chips representing the bedrock layer. Next they weathered down some Oreos to make the subsoil layer. Lastly, the topsoil was made up of chocolate pudding. This was a tasty way to close their study of soil.

STEM in Anchor Lab

When learning about non-standard measurement in Kindergarten, the students did a Monster STEM activity.  They had to design and build a monster that was four blocks high.  This was after reading a story called  “I Need My Monster” by Amanda Noll.
