Our Pre-K class at Madison has been hard at work learning our MES expectations and initiatives. Students have been learning how to use their Think/Talk signals, as well as using Turn and Talk during lessons.
Our lesson focus this week has been “Humpty Dumpty”, the color white and the rectangle shape. On Friday, students participated in their first STEM activity. Students worked cooperatively to create a means for Humpty’s cousin, Lumpty, to be safely dropped down the sliding board at the playground in hopes that he would not crack. Teams worked collaboratively to develop a plan of action, implement their plan, discuss outcomes and formulate alternative methods for eggs that cracked. Following the activity, students created a graph using their Lumpty creations to determine which groups were or were not successful in keeping Lumpty safe in his travels.
MES has had a fabulous start to our 2018-19 school year. This week all of our students learned about the 3 Rs and how to be respectful, responsible, and ready! Teachers have incorporated fun and engaging activities to help all of our future leaders jump into a new year of learning!
On Thursday Madison Elementary School staff welcomed Mustangs and their families to a new school year. Students were able to meet their teachers, explore their classrooms, and reconnect with friends and past teachers. Spotswood at Ladysmith was also there to welcome students with bounce houses, face painting, and delicious treats.
