Madison Elementary School invites you and your child(ren) to help Caroline County families in need this Thanksgiving. Each classroom will have an area where donations can be placed. Please make sure to send any donations to your child’s classroom.
What to give?
In addition to foods that you would enjoy at your own holiday table, please consider donating some of the following:

- Canned Meat and Canned Tuna
- Fruit Juice
- Macaroni and Cheese
- Pasta and Sauces
- Peanut Butter and Jelly

The 5th graders are preparing for an upcoming music show entitled “Gemini, Taurus and Lynx, Oh My!”. This is a show inspired by the constellations that light our night sky. The show will be on the stage of Madison Elementary at 6:00 P.M on Thursday, November 8th. Doors will open to the cafeteria at 5:30 P.M. If your student is involved in this wonderful show he or she should be here no later than 5:45 P.M. Please remember to put them in something all black, to resemble the night sky. This is a great show and we would love to have that cafeteria filled with support of friends and family.

School Delays and Closing Information
Decisions for canceling school, closing early or a delayed opening are based on many factors. The safety and welfare of students are always the first priority for any decision. Inclement weather decisions are made based on weather reports, road conditions, and reports from VDOT, the sheriff’s department and surrounding school divisions. It is our goal to make school delay and closing decisions prior to 5:30 a.m.; however, weather conditions may change quickly requiring a change in status with little notice. Once the decision is made an AlertNow call for all parents and guardians goes out. The information is relayed to designated radio and television stations, and posted on the division’s website. Parents and guardians may sign up for email or text alerts through School’s Out or Caroline Alert.

For parents whose students drive to school: Please consider the safety of your child when making a decision to let them drive or ride the bus during hazardous road conditions. Due to their inexperience, many students do not know how to drive in inclement weather conditions. Our bus drivers are experienced drivers and they have a good safety record. Parents are encouraged to consider having their student ride the bus when schools operate on a delayed opening.
