January 29, 2026 Schools Closed /12-Month Work Remotely, Essential Employees Report at 8AM

Caroline County Schools

CCPS families and staff! Today marks the third consecutive day out of school due to Winter Storm Fern. Frigid temperatures, ice, and refreezing conditions continue to impact secondary and tertiary roads, as well as school parking lots and sidewalks.

As such, Caroline County Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 29, 2026.

  • Twelve-month employees will work remotely.
  • Essential employees are to report to their assigned buildings at 8:00 a.m.

Please note that asynchronous learning will NOT be implemented on Thursday. CCPS will utilize banked instructional time to cover Monday (1/26), Thursday (1/29), and Friday (1/30, if needed). Students are encouraged to use Thursday’s closure to complete any remaining assignments from Tuesday and Wednesday’s asynchronous learning days. These assignments will be due to classroom teachers upon our return to school and will be used to verify attendance.

Our weather team continues to work closely with CCPS employees, county staff, and business partners to address the ongoing impacts of Storm Fern. Additionally, we are also closely monitoring the upcoming weekend forecast and developing readiness plans should Caroline County be affected by further winter weather.

Thank you for your continued patience and flexibility as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
