WELCOME TO CAROLINE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

Congratulations Mrs. Elam on your retirement!

Dear LCES family and friends,

As we approach the end of the school year, it brings joy and tears as we say farewell to some of our amazing staff here at LCES.  As you know, Mr. Andrew Merritt will be our new LCES Assistant Principal for the 24-25 school year because Mrs. Elam, current Assistant Principal, will be retiring.  I wanted to take this time to honor and share with our community about our awesome assistant principal.

Mrs. Becky Elam has dedicated her entire career to Caroline County Public Schools. Beginning in 2000, she embarked on her journey after taking time off to raise her son, serving as a 5th-grade teacher at BGES for three years. Her exceptional dedication was recognized in 2001 when she was named CCPS Teacher of the Year.

Over the years, Mrs. Elam transitioned through various roles, including Gifted Specialist from 2004 to 2007, Assistant Principal at BGES and Bowling Green Primary from 2008 to 2010, and Assistant Principal at CHS until the fall of 2017. Following this, she served as a Special Projects Coordinator at the School Board Office until 2019 before returning to her passion for elementary education as an Assistant Principal at LCES.

Since joining LCES in 2019, Mrs. Elam has proven to be an invaluable member of the administrative team, serving not only as a great administrator but also as a mentor, advocate, and friend to the students and staff. She spearheaded initiatives such as the VTSS program and the implementation of the Zones of Regulation schoolwide, demonstrating her commitment to supporting both students and teachers in their personal and academic growth. Mrs. Elam’s leadership style is characterized by empathy, encouragement, and a balance of understanding and tough love when needed.

Her love for children shines through her dedication to listening, offering support, and giving hugs whenever needed. While her presence will be greatly missed, there’s no doubt that her grandson is incredibly lucky to have such a caring and devoted grandmother.

We love and appreciate all that you have done for LCES and Caroline County for the last 24 years.

Thank you,

Mrs. Cyndi Brown, Principal @ LCES
