For 34 years, Mrs. Hackett has been a cornerstone of Caroline County Public Schools. Her journey began in August 1985 at Ladysmith Elementary (now Lotus Academy) as a special education para. Following a brief hiatus after the birth of her son in November 1988, Mrs. Hackett returned in 1993, initially serving as a reading para before transitioning to the math department. Alongside Joyce Fleenor, a 5th-grade math teacher, she established the Cortez math lab, a testament to her dedication to educational innovation.
In 2007, Mrs. Hackett played an instrumental role in the opening of LCES, assuming the role of receptionist, alongside Hellen Terrell. In 2013, she transitioned to the position of registrar/attendance clerk, where she has served with distinction for the past 11 years.
Mrs. Hackett’s impact extends far beyond her administrative duties; she is the heartbeat of Lewis and Clark Elementary, known and respected throughout the school and community. Generations of families have entrusted their children to her care, a testament to her lasting impact. Her legacy is marked by the countless families who have even chosen to enroll their children in the school, drawn by the genuine care and support she provides. Her dedication to Lewis and Clark and will forever be remembered.
As a mentor and friend, Mrs. Hackett’s legacy is unmatched. Her departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, as her influence extends far beyond the classroom and front office. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who have had the privilege of knowing her. She is a legend and one that is respected and will be missed tremendously by all in Caroline County Public Schools.
