Rohan Murphy Speaks Oct 23rd

Caroline County Public Schools – Parent Teacher Resource Center, in conjunction with the Special Education Department is hosting an event for Disability History and Awareness Month on Monday, October 23, 2017

Our guest speaker will be nationally recognized motivational speaker, Rohan Murphy.  Rohan, who lost his legs at birth, started to wrestle his freshman year of high school. After a successful high school wrestling career he went on to wrestle at Penn State University and earned three varsity letters during his tenure. In addition to wrestling, Rohan is also an accomplished powerlifter, competing in competitions all over the world representing the USA.  Rohan Murphy has lived his whole life motivating people through his actions; he is now motivating the youth of America through his words. Rohan’s life story is a gripping tale of adversity, dedication, and living life with a purpose.

On Monday, October 23, 2017, Rohan will be in Caroline County for three presentations, speaking to all of our 4th and 5th grade students, middle school students and high school students.

The Parent Resource Center Welcomes You To A New School Year

New School Year, New Anxieties
A lot of parents look toward the school year with fear and anxiety —  they know there is a good chance their child is going to have problems in the classroom, either behaviorally or academically. For parents of children with ADHD, ODD, or other special needs, this anxiety can be even more severe.

To help ease back-to-school anxiety, be proactive and start developing a good working relationship with your child’s teacher now.

Remember the three P’s when developing a parent/school relationship: Praise, Prevent, and Plan. Part of planning includes bringing up issues prior to an official parent-teacher conference or scheduled meeting. This can help you and the teacher develop a strategic approach to any challenges your child might face.
